- "Tripp Davenport" is the pseudonym I have used for so long it feels a part of me. The name comes from a character I played in the Alan Ball comedy "Five Women Wearing the Same Dress," which is a very funny show that I was fortunate enough to be in with some very funny women. For this blog I use the picture of a young Teddy Roosevelt because in many ways he has become my inspiration. Interestingly his time, one hundred years ago, shows many parallels to our time. Teddy was a courageous man who appreciated the good things that can come from capitalism but also knew about, and fought, the bad things such as cronyism, fraud, theft, and the worst thing of all - thinking that money itself is an ends, to be maximized and pursued above all else, instead of a means to empower us to do good for the benefit of all. Isn't life great?

ReplyDeleteI taught my children that there is no perfect so that they would not try to achieve that. Instead, we strove to be 'just right'. I know it has that 4-letter word in it, but it takes away some of the pressure. I think this is just right.
